We love this place!! A friend stumbled upon this restaurant and told us about it; when we finally checked it out we were blown away!! Mark III is connected to a motel in St. Joe and the outside doesn't look that great... But when u get inside it is totally different!! The decor is nice; they have nice big booths and a great bar. Every time we go, we have excellent service. Both the bartenders and service have been fabulous. The menu is amazing!! So many great options. They have homemade chips and salsa - bottomless, and for only $3.99. YUM!! They also have fantastic tacos for their Tuesday night taco night special. They are so filling!! Don't forget to check out their weekday specials and happy hour!! This place can't be beat!!

Positives first: staff was super nice. Food was terrible though, either over salted or no flavor at all. Veggies were mushy, steak was bland, guac was super salty.

Went with friends for some Mexican food. I used to come here many years ago and just LOVED their chips and salsa! Their salsa is still very good but they've since changed the chips, to some bland, tasteless ones! Almost dosent make the salsa taste as good. That was disappointing, but my enchilada was great. Had plenty to make a snack the next day. My margarita was so strong I only needed 1! Enchilada 4 stars. Chips and salsa 1 star. Margarita 4 stars

I'm guessing those that state this is really Mexican food are from Canada. Kind of northern tex mex is the best way to describe. It was taco Tuesday and ordered tacos and retried beans. Order four tacos and Only choked down two. Refried beans were pretty tasteless as well. Incredibly there was a large crowd....my guess is they were from Canada .

As a local, we are BIG fans of this restaurant. It's like a time warp and has not changed since I was a kid and I love that about it. Yes, as many Yelpers pointed out, it's not authentic Mexican food but it is still very good, fresh and hot, if you're ordering the right things! :) Enchiladas, burritos, and their taco salads are the things my friends and I order everytime. Their queso dip is phenomenal as well. Also, we particularly like going there for the strong drinks and craft beer selection. Their margaritas are excellent and one is enough to leave you with a bit of a buzz! You definitely get your money's worth. Order the "Markarita" (it comes with a mini bottle of Corona on top) and it will not disappoint.

You don't really go to Mark III for authentic Mexican food. The dishes are a very American take on Mexican, but still good in their own way. To be honest, I find their "American dishes" (burgers etc) better than the Mexican. I ordered Carne Asada here once, and it was most assuredly not Carne Asada. A good pick if you're craving Mex-American food, but authentic it is not.

Aw these poor idiots that give the Mark a bad review. Anyone who thinks this food is sub par has definite tastbud issues. I've seen reviews on here with only one star and comments of bad food. Not True, obviously these one and two starers are confused. Probably the best wait staff anywhere in the county and maybe this side of the Mississippi. The food is awesome and the drinks are always prepared correctly. You can't beat the steaks and the portions are huge. We eat there at least twice a month and would go more often if we could. Highly recommend and you won't be disappointed.

Their Mexican faire is disappointing but their burgers and steaks are excellent. Be careful what you order. And don't go when they are busy, we were once forgotten and served cold food. It's a good place for a strong drink.

We've eaten here a few times and been unimpressed every time. This is not real Mexican food. It's greasy and heavy. I make better Mexican food at home. The last time we ate there my husband ordered perch.(We were trying to stear clear of the "Mexican" food.) It came with a small cup of soup before the meal. When dinner arrived his plate had half a dozen pieces of greasy perch the size of my pinky, that's it...for $15.99???? Won't go back.

My stepmother and I came here because we both wanted something different and they had a wide array of food on the menu to choose from and the reviews on yelp were good. I went in wanting a burger and wound up getting (forgive me for forgetting the actual name) a burger that had guac, sour cream, lettuce, tomato it was like a taco almost and it was delicious!!! My mom ordered Mexican and she loved it. Also we happened to go in on when the special was half-priced margaritas which didn't hurt either! The place all and all is nice and the menu is not big but offers a wide variety of options.

Just had the beef and refried beans chimichanga. There doesn't seem to be any beans in there and the whole thing is covered in some kind of gelatinous gravy. I don't think the beef has been seasoned at all. My friend got carne asada which was served as a tough, cheap steak on a plate next to some guacamole and rice. I tried the steak and it was absolutely bland, obviously not even marinaded. I assume that the cooks here have never heard of cumin. This is the absolute worst Tex Mex food I've ever had, let alone trying to call it Mexican. The tortilla chips they gave us were tossed in chili powder for crying out loud. Is that supposed to make them more authentic? What a joke. I wish I didn't come here.

We often eat dinner at the Mark and enjoy the lively atmosphere. But we rarely eat the Mexican food other than an occasional taco! We keep coming back for the shrimp, chicken and even steak. The Mark doesn't even come close to the best Mexican in town but there is still good food to be had there.

Seldom advertised yet slways busy! Locals know a great place - 5-star food & service. Best filet mignon in town...wrapped in bacon w/Texas toast w/ 'shrooms served on a sizzling plate. FOUR COURSE MEAL -appetizer choice of shrimp cocktail- a great value. NY Strip entree is comparable, Tex-Mex entrees excellent. Bob Camp & staff always go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. PS their frozen margaritas are well known

Haven't been here in a while, but remember their Mexican food. The "bomb" burrito will put you in a food coma. About the only good place to eat in South St. Joseph. Oh yeah, I've heard that in Spring 2009 that the Mark III went smoke-free. Way to go, Mark III.

I've lost count on how many people have told me this place is good or insisted on going there, and for the life of me I cannot figure out why. It's a nice place to have a few beers and the people are nice, but the food is just the worst. Their burritos are very average, and is just a mesh of light and dark chicken meat(assuming you got chicken). I guess if you like a surprise in every bite, this is for you. The chips and salsa provided when you sit down are sub par even for a trip to a local grocery store. Store bought chips in a Mexican restaurant should be grounds for immediate closing. Now the coup de grâce of my experience here, and I promise you the last time I ever step foot in here outside of someone wanting to grab a beer. The last time I went, I had no real desire for another mix bag o meat burrito, so I made the horrid mistake of ordering a New York Strip steak. oooooooo lordy, you couldn't blow a meal this hard if you tried. No, seriously, I dare you. It came with a salad... not sure what happened to that, I got a plate full of pre shredded lettuce, a cup of dressing, and I kid you not, an entire half of a tomato. The baked potato was clearly microwaved, tough, and not even that hot. Thank God for that little cup of sour cream and packet of butter.... no, just kidding, it still sucked. Then the all might steak came out. I ordered it medium rare, but it came out as red as a baboons butt, only with less seasoning. Seriously, there was not a hint of salt or pepper on it. It did come with a tomato for some reason, and, yeah, you guessed it, the other half. So glad I could aid in their reunion. I didn't send it back, because I was afraid what else they could do to ruin it, as the 'covered in mushrooms' turn out to be 3 whole mushrooms from a can heated. The next time someone wants to go here for dinner, I think I'll react the same way if they'd asked me if I wanted to drink vodka through my eye.

A pretty good burger, decent Mexican food, and good steaks! Fairly cheap alcohol as well. Friendly service, as well as average food-to-table times. A comfortable atmosphere.

This is a restaurant and bar that my parents started to visit in the 70's, and have never stopped. Always busy, and a great atmosphere. They claim to be a Mexican food joint, but I have never been impressed with their Mexican food. In years past, I thought it was pretty good, but the Mexcian food has been on the down slope for awhile. Steaks are always incredible, and burgers are decent. I prefer to go there for drinks with a friend during happy hour, than go for food there at dinner time. The great service, prices, drinks, quantity, and atmosphere must be what keeps bringing people in. It certainly could not be the "Mexican Food", which is about as Americanized as it gets. I have been working my way through the menu, and have yet to really be impressed by any Mexican dishes. But after a few beers at a cheap price, it is acceptable.

I have been eating here for over 35 years on a regular basis and would recommend it to anyone looking for good burgers, steaks, or nacho's. Burrito's .. Torpedo's and Bomb's are also a big hit!!
